你应该清楚做奥运志愿者只提供午饭，没有住宿。
即使你所有申请条件都符合你在伦敦那个地方还是会面临很大的挑战。到时候是你帮别人还是别人帮你都很难说。
还是建议留学生去做这个事情，我们大老远的跑去也不合算。

Volunteering at the Games
This year we will be looking for great volunteers to help put on the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games,

Is this the opportunity for you?
Applications will open in 2010. We’ll recruit volunteers from across the UK – from a range of communities and backgrounds. Our recruitment process will be transparent, open and fair. Our goal is to select applicants who meet our criteria and who will bring passion, enthusiasm and energy to the Games. Previous volunteering experience is not necessary.
You must:
commit to volunteer a minimum of ten days at either, or both, Games;
attend a minimum of three training sessions;
be eligible to volunteer in the UK; and
agree to, and pass, security background checks.
We have set a general entry point at 18 years old. In line with our vision to inspire young people, we are also looking at opportunities for those under 18.
Volunteers will be provided with meals during their shifts, however accommodation will not be provided. Volunteers that live too far away to commute will need to make their own arrangements.
All volunteers will be expected to attend training events that will give them the knowledge they need to carry out their role.
We’ll give each successful applicant a specific role, allowing them to contribute meaningfully to the Games. There will be two kinds of Games volunteer – specialist and generalist:
Specialist volunteers will have specific existing skills or qualifications that are needed for them to complete the role – for example, sport or medical training.
Generalist volunteers will not need any special skills or qualifications and will receive full training. They might be given roles in areas such as event services, uniform distribution and Village operations.
We are already starting to talk to some organisations (such as sports National Governing Bodies) about helping us find some of the specialist volunteers with the specific skills we need.

Key dates of the volunteer recruitment process
Summer 2010 London 2012’s official Volunteer Programme launches. All applicants will be required to complete an application form.
November 2010 LOCOG starts inviting short-listed applicants to a selection event.
January 2011- February 2012 Selection events take place to interview all invited applicants.
October 2011 Offers will begin to be sent out to successful applicants.
February 2012 Orientation training takes place.
March 2012 Role-specific training begins.
April 2012 Distribution of uniforms and accreditation passes begins.
June 2012 Venue training begins.
Volunteering in your local community
There are lots of charities and sporting organisations that are looking for volunteers to help them. While you are waiting for applications for the London 2012 volunteer programme to open in 2010 why not consider getting involved locally?

After 2012
We aim to create a ‘family’ of volunteers after the Games who would like to stay in touch with friends made during the course of their volunteering.
The Games will also have a far wider impact on the volunteering community in the UK.
Work with our partners will create a new volunteering spirit, an improved volunteer network with more opportunities and better training for those who want to give their most important commodity – time.

2010年10月份，招募工作结束之前，有25万人提出过申请。现在，伦敦奥组委挑选了大约10万人参加面对面的会谈，7万多人参与非面对面会谈。其中大概1500个面谈在加的夫举行。
对于志愿者的要求是：热情、富有灵感和奉献精神。是否具有作为志愿者的经验不是申请的必须条件。

2011年6月7日-6月18日，有1500名来自威尔士地区的志愿者面试。
